The Public Benefit Corporation is here Now what do we do? (live teleconference option available)*
June 17, 2014@9:00 am-10:30 am
Presenters: Kimberly A. Lowe, Fredrikson & Byron, PA; Jeffrey Ochs, Entrepeneur
There is a new entity in town — the Minnesota Public Benefit Corporation. This legislative session our lawmakers passed the Minnesota Public Benefit Corporation Act, passing into law an act that provides for the formation of a hybrid corporation that adds a social purpose to a traditional for-profit corporation. To date 24 other states have passed benefit corporation statutes including Delaware. Join us for a CLE presented by Kim Lowe, the chair of the MSBA drafting committee for the Public Benefit Corporation Act, and Jeff Ochs, a social entrepreneur, that will discuss where this new entity fits within our economy and among entity options as well as describe some of the basic requirements of the Minnesota Public Benefit Corporation Act that should become effective on January 1, 2015.
